El Forum Universal de las Culturas Monterrey 2007 llega a su fin. El gobierno invirtió más de 5,000 millones de pesos en infraestructura y organización del mismo, y en el olvido quedó el posible desvío de fondos que en un inicio causara tanto revuelo.
Los organizadores consideran que asistieron más de 4 millones de personas a los diversos eventos que se presentaron; no obstante a las mesas de diálogos acudieron cerca de 40,000 personas, cifras mínimas en comparación con el reporte total de asistentes; no obstante no sabremos cuántas personas asistieron realmente al Forum. Los acarreados por parte de todas las escuelas y universidades, tanto públicas y privadas, que tenían relación con el Forum, así como el hecho de que en los últimos días se estuvo regalando pizzas a los asistentes, hacen imposible medir el interés real que este evento causó en la ciudadanía, ya no digamos el maquillaje de las cifras. Otra cuestión que hay que revisar es que si bien el Forum habla de 4 millones de personas, esto no es tal, y en su caso sería 4 millones de visitas, la diferencia reside en que en muchos de los casos una persona acudía a 2, 3, 4 o más eventos, y cada vez que entraban a los espacios se les contaba nuevamente, tomando en cuenta esto, el número de personas que visitaron el Forum se reduciría considerablemente, pero bueno, cada quien es libre de decir lo que quiera.
Pero por fin termina, más de uno ahora podrá dormir tranquilo y nadie duda que comenzarán a mostrar (y a maquillar) las grandes cifras positivas que el evento dejó como resultado. Pero ¿Qué pasará ahora? ¿Cuánto tiempo se mantendrá en buen estado el paseo Santa Lucía? ¿Cómo le harán para que sigan funcionando los grandes recintos que se hicieron para el Forum? ¿Seguirán las exposiciones? Que nadie duerma en paz todavía, aun queda mucho por hacer con respecto a los espacios antes mencionados, espero que realmente se sigan utilizando y que no sean convertidos en cosas ajenas a su objetivo principal, como suele suceder. La comunidad artística de Nuevo León tiene que tomar las riendas y no dejar que el gobierno haga mal uso de dichos espacios y, por el contrario, presionar al gobierno para que los espacios sigan funcionando con la misma intensidad que con el Forum.
Termina el Forum, reitero, y la transparencia en los gastos no se ha resuelto y probablemente, como suele suceder, no se resolverá.
